MateOnHow to delete your account
- Open MateOn at mateon.app/app and sign in.
- Go to Settings.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
If MateOn asks you to accept its Terms of Service first, you can also choose Don't agree? Delete my account on that screen.
What happens when you delete
As soon as you confirm:
- you are signed out on every device at once, and you disappear from discovery and matching immediately,
- your personal data is deleted, including your sign-in details (your email address and password hash, or your Google sign-in link), date of birth, profile photo, bio, nickname, city and country, and your location, along with your activities, swipes, matches and plans, your settings and your internal trust assessment,
- any device push tokens are removed, so you stop receiving notifications.
We keep only an anonymous record of the deleted account, so that safety and legal records stay consistent: reports you made keep their reason but lose your own words, and reports about you lose the copy of your content, except reports about child safety, whose evidence we keep for as long as the law requires. Records of moderation decisions about the account and of the document versions it accepted also stay. None of these records identify you.
This action is irreversible. If you sign in again later, a new account is created.
If you cannot sign in
The deletion option is built into MateOn, which is the fastest way to remove your data. If you cannot sign in, you can ask us to delete your account by writing to [email protected] from the email address you sign in to MateOn with (your account email, or the address of the Google account you use). We may need to verify that the request comes from the account holder before we act, so that nobody can delete someone else's account.
Retention after deletion
- Personal data is deleted immediately when you confirm.
- Server database backups used for disaster recovery are kept for up to 14 days, after which deleted data no longer exists in any backup.
- Copies of profile photos cached by our content delivery network expire within a day.
