Deleting your MateOn account and data

How to delete your account

1. Open the MateOn app.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Choose Delete account and confirm.

What happens when you delete

As soon as you confirm:

• your account is marked deleted and you disappear from discovery and matching immediately,
• your personal details are anonymized, including your email, profile photo, bio, nickname, city and country, and your exact and approximate location,
• your device push tokens are removed, so you stop receiving notifications,
• if you signed in with Apple, our server revokes the Sign in with Apple authorization, so the connection to Apple is fully removed.

We keep only limited, anonymized records where the law requires it or where it is strictly necessary for safety and integrity, for example to honor a block you or another user made. These records do not identify you.

This action is irreversible. If you sign in again later, a new account is created.

If you cannot access the app

The deletion option is built into the app, which is the fastest way to remove your data. If you cannot access the app, you can ask us to delete your account by writing to [email protected] from a device or sign-in you control. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account holder before we act, so that nobody can delete someone else's account.

Retention after deletion

• Personal data is anonymized immediately on deletion.
• Encrypted server database backups used for disaster recovery are rotated within 14 days, after which deleted data no longer exists in any backup.
