MateOn Community Guidelines

MateOn helps adults meet for shared activities such as chess, cycling, running, walking and coffee walks. These guidelines keep the community welcoming and safe. By using MateOn you agree to follow them. Breaking them can lead to content removal, suspension or a permanent ban.

Be respectful

  • Treat everyone with respect. No harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech or discrimination based on who someone is.
  • No sexual harassment and no sexually explicit or violent content. MateOn is about activities, not adult content.
  • Do not spam, scam, advertise, or send unsolicited commercial messages.

Be real

  • Use your own identity and a recent photo of yourself. No impersonation, fake profiles or photos of other people.
  • Do not post other people's personal information without their permission.

Be safe when you meet

  • MateOn is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Meet in public places, especially the first time. Tell a friend where you are going.
  • You are responsible for your own safety and your conduct during in-person meetings. Trust your instincts and leave if you feel uncomfortable.
  • Do not arrange or take part in anything illegal.

Protect the community

  • Report any profile, message or behavior that breaks these guidelines using the in-app report option.
  • Block anyone you do not want to interact with. A block is honored on both sides.
  • We review reports and may remove content, suspend or permanently remove accounts that put others at risk or break these rules.

Prohibited content and behavior

This is not an exhaustive list, but it is never allowed on MateOn:

  • harassment, hate, threats or violence,
  • sexual content, solicitation or exploitation,
  • content involving minors,
  • impersonation, fraud, scams or phishing,
  • spam, advertising or off-platform solicitation,
  • sharing someone's private information without consent,
  • promoting self-harm or illegal activity.

Enforcement

We act on reports and on behavior we detect. Depending on severity we may warn, remove content, suspend, or permanently ban an account, and where required we cooperate with lawful requests from authorities. If your account is removed, you may contact us to ask about the decision.
