About MateOn and These Terms

MateOn is operated by POLPROG. These Terms apply to MateOn on the web at mateon.app and in the MateOn mobile apps once they are released. Before you start using MateOn, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, accept these Terms and the Community Guidelines, confirm that you have read the Privacy Policy, and confirm the safety acknowledgement described under Your Responsibility for Meetings. The agreement starts when you do this, and it lasts until you or we end it.

The Privacy Policy explains how we process your personal data. It is information for you, not a part of this agreement that you accept.

What MateOn Is

MateOn is a technology platform that helps adults discover other people with similar interests and coordinate activities they may want to do together, such as chess, cycling, running, walks or climbing. You can create a profile, post activities, browse what other members post, like activities, match when the interest is mutual, propose and agree plans with your matches, and report or block people.

MateOn is free to use and shows no ads. If we ever introduce paid features, we will set out their price and terms before they apply.

What MateOn Is Not

Activities take place directly between members. Unless we expressly say otherwise for a particular feature, MateOn does not organize, supervise, control or attend meetings. MateOn is not:

• the organizer of any activity or meeting,
• a participant in any activity or meeting,
• a party to arrangements made between members,
• an agent or representative of any member,
• an employer,
• an activity instructor,
• a transport provider,
• a venue operator,
• a medical or safety service,
• a guarantor of another member's identity, intentions or conduct.

Who Can Use MateOn

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. MateOn helps arrange activities with other people, sometimes in person, so it is for adults only. You may have only one account, and you may not use MateOn if we have terminated an earlier account of yours for breaking these Terms, unless we agree. You must use MateOn in line with these Terms and with the laws that apply to you.

Your Account

You sign in with your email address and a password, or with Google. Keep your password and your sign-in account secure, and tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account, unless it happens without any fault on your part. Keep your profile accurate and current. Your account is personal: you may not sell, transfer or share it.

Technical Requirements

To use MateOn you need an internet connection, an email address or a Google account, and either a current version of a common web browser, such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge, with JavaScript and cookies enabled, or, once they are released, a supported version of iOS or Android for the mobile apps. Some features, such as finding people near you, work better if you allow location access.

Your Responsibility for Meetings

MateOn helps you find people, but every member decides independently:

• whether to interact with someone,
• whether to accept a proposal,
• whether to meet,
• where to meet, and whether a place seems appropriate,
• whether they have the skills and equipment the activity needs,
• whether their physical condition allows it,
• whether their way of getting there and back is appropriate,
• whether the activity complies with the law and the rules of the place.

Use reasonable judgment before and during every interaction. MateOn cannot guarantee how another person behaves, online or offline. With the safety acknowledgement, you confirm that you understand that MateOn helps users connect but does not organize or supervise meetings between users, and that you are responsible for deciding whether, where and with whom you meet and for taking appropriate safety precautions. No Verification of Identity or Background

MateOn may use account authentication, profile requirements and automated or manual trust and anti-abuse mechanisms. These measures are intended to improve platform safety but do not constitute a guarantee of a user's identity, background, intentions, reliability or conduct.

In particular, signing in with Google or confirming an email address shows only that someone controls that account or address. The profile photo required to post activities, like people and make plans is not checked against the person, and the internal trust and safety signals described in the Privacy Policy are not identity verification. MateOn does not perform comprehensive identity verification or criminal or background checks, and dates of birth are given by members themselves.

Information You and Others Provide

You are responsible for the information you provide, and it must be truthful. Do not impersonate anyone, create fake profiles, use misleading photos, give a false age, commit fraud or run scams, or post deliberately misleading information about an activity, such as its place, time, level or nature.

Profiles, photos, descriptions of activities and places, availability, preferences, skill levels, statements and proposals come from members. We cannot guarantee that they are complete, current or accurate. We may act when a breach is reported to us or otherwise becomes known to us.

Acceptable Use

MateOn only works if people feel safe and respected. Follow the Community Guidelines, and do not:

• post or share unlawful content, or use MateOn for anything illegal,
• harass, threaten, intimidate or abuse anyone,
• post hateful, sexually explicit, violent or misleading content,
• use MateOn for advertising, commercial solicitation, spam or scams,
• contact, or try to meet, anyone under 18 through MateOn,
• collect or share other members' personal information without their consent,
• use bots, scrapers or other automated means, or interfere with, probe or try to break the service.

Content You Share

You keep ownership of the profile details, photos, activities and plans you create. So that we can run MateOn, you give POLPROG a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, format for display and show that content to other members while it is on MateOn, and afterwards only for as long as we keep it under the Privacy Policy, for example as evidence in a report. You confirm that you have the right to share what you post and that it does not infringe anyone's rights.

How We Moderate

MateOn does not routinely pre-screen, approve or proactively monitor every profile, photo, activity, proposal or user interaction before it becomes available through the service.

MateOn may review content or accounts following a user report, when MateOn becomes aware of potentially unlawful or prohibited content or conduct, when automated safety systems identify a relevant risk signal, or where action is otherwise required by applicable law.

Some protections are automated: uploaded photos are checked for malware and stripped of hidden metadata, repeated requests are limited, a human check can be used at sign-up, an account where a date of birth under 18 is entered is locked, and internal trust and safety signals point us to accounts that may need a review. Apart from that age lock, decisions to remove content or to restrict, suspend or terminate an account are taken by a person. We do not promise that every report is reviewed immediately or within a fixed time.

Reports and Enforcement

You can report a profile, a photo, an activity, a plan or a member directly in MateOn, for example for illegal content, abusive conduct, a scam, impersonation or a safety concern. Anyone, including people without an account, can also tell us about content they consider illegal by writing to [email protected]: explain why you consider it illegal, say where it is (for example the member's nickname and the activity), give your name and email address, unless the notice concerns child sexual abuse material, and confirm that the notice is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge. We confirm that we received such a notice and tell you what we decided.

When we review a report or other information, we may:

• investigate, and ask the members involved for information,
• remove or restrict content, for example by taking down a photo or an activity,
• temporarily restrict features, for example posting activities, liking people or making plans,
• suspend the account,
• permanently terminate the account,
• preserve records where the law allows or requires it,
• respond to lawful requests from authorities.

We act proportionately, considering how serious the breach is, whether it was repeated or intentional, and the risk to others. For child sexual abuse and exploitation, threats of violence and similarly serious harm, we may terminate an account immediately and without warning. When we take one of these measures, we tell you what we did and why, and how you can ask us to review the decision, unless the law prevents us or telling you would put someone at risk.

Asking Us to Review a Decision

If you disagree with a decision we took about your content or your account, or about a report you made, write to [email protected] within six months of the decision, from the email address of your account if you have one, and tell us why. A person will look at the decision again together with what you send us, and we will tell you the outcome and our reasons without undue delay. If the decision was wrong, we reverse it. Asking for a review is free and does not affect your right to go to court.

Blocking

You can block any member at any time. Blocking ends your match, cancels open plans between you and stops further contact in both directions. The other person is not notified.

Activity Risks

Many activities carry inherent risks, including cycling, running, hiking, climbing, training at a gym and other sports, as well as travelling to and from a meeting and meeting in public places. You decide whether an activity is suitable for you. Showing an activity on MateOn is not medical, fitness, professional or safety advice, and we do not warrant that an activity proposed by another member is safe or suitable for you. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services, such as 112 in the European Union.

Places, Third Parties and Contact Outside MateOn

Members may propose parks, cafés, clubs, sports facilities, public places and other venues. Unless we say otherwise, MateOn does not own, operate, inspect or control them. Showing a place on MateOn is not a safety certification or an endorsement, and not a guarantee of its opening hours, availability or suitability.

MateOn cannot control, and does not supervise, what happens outside the service: face-to-face meetings, phone calls, other messaging services, social networks, transport, venues, and purchases or other transactions between members. Third-party services you use together with MateOn, such as Google sign-in or a calendar, are governed by their own terms.

Availability and Changes to the Service

We work to keep MateOn available and working well, but we cannot promise that it will be uninterrupted or error free, or that it will lead to any particular match, meeting or outcome. We may change, add or remove features, for example to improve MateOn, for safety or to comply with the law, and we will tell you in advance about changes that significantly affect how you use it. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Our Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. We remain responsible for our own obligations under these Terms and the law. In particular, we do not exclude or limit our liability for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, or for harm to life or health for which we are responsible.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, POLPROG is not responsible for losses arising solely from:

• another member's representations,
• another member's conduct, online or offline,
• meetings that members choose to attend,
• activities organized by members,
• arrangements made between members,
• venues and other places outside our control,
• third-party services,
• transport arranged by members,
• information posted by members that we had no legally relevant knowledge of and were not legally required to prevent.

Ending the Agreement

You can end this agreement at any time, at no cost, by deleting your account in Settings. If you are a consumer, any statutory right to withdraw from the agreement applies as well.

We may suspend your account or end the agreement as described under Reports and Enforcement. We may also end it for another important reason, such as discontinuing MateOn or a change in the law, by telling you at least 30 days in advance, unless the law requires us to act sooner. In that case you can download a copy of your data in Settings before your account closes.

Complaints

If MateOn does not work as these Terms describe, or you want to complain about our service, write to [email protected]. Describe the problem, when it happened and the email address of your account. We will respond within 14 days of receiving your complaint. If you are a consumer, you can also turn to a consumer protection organization or authority in your country.

Governing Law and Courts

These Terms are governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring proceedings in the courts there.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms, for example when we change MateOn or when the law changes. We will post the new version at this address with a new date. When a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect and ask you to accept the updated Terms before you continue using MateOn; if you do not agree, you can delete your account instead. Minor changes that do not affect your rights, such as clearer wording, take effect when we publish them.
