MateOnZero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation
MateOn, operated by POLPROG, prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in every form. This includes child sexual abuse material (CSAM), sexualisation of minors, grooming, sextortion, trafficking, and any attempt to contact, solicit or meet a minor for a sexual purpose.
There is no warning and no second chance. Accounts involved in CSAE are terminated immediately, the content is removed, and we report to the competent authorities where the law requires it.
Adults only: 18 and over
MateOn is built for adults who meet for shared activities such as chess, cycling, running, walks and coffee walks. Nobody under 18 may use it, and our Terms of Service require every user to be at least 18 years old. We enforce this in several layers:
- A date of birth is required at sign-up, and a server-side check rejects any registration from a person under 18.
- The app is published to an 18 and over audience, and we ask Google Play to block users it identifies as minors from finding or downloading it.
- Accounts we find to belong to a minor are terminated and their data is deleted.
If you are under 18, do not use MateOn. If you believe a minor is using the app, report the account in the app or write to [email protected] and we will act on it.
What is never allowed
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form, including drawings, renders and generated imagery.
- Sexualising, or presenting in a sexual manner, any person under 18.
- Grooming, that is building a relationship with a minor in order to abuse or exploit them.
- Sextortion, and any threat to publish intimate imagery of a minor.
- Trafficking of minors, and any offer or solicitation of a minor for sexual purposes.
- Contacting, soliciting or arranging to meet a minor for a sexual purpose.
- Impersonating a minor, or presenting oneself as a minor.
How to report
Every profile and every conversation in MateOn has a Report action and a Block action. Reporting takes a few seconds and you can choose a reason, including child safety. You do not need to be the person affected in order to report.
- Open the profile or the conversation you are concerned about.
- Choose Report and select the reason that fits.
- Optionally block the person so they can no longer contact you.
- You can also email [email protected] with any detail you can share.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Illegal material can also be reported to a national hotline through INHOPE (inhope.org), or in the United States to the NCMEC CyberTipline (report.cybertip.org).
What we do with a report
Reports reach our moderation team, which reviews them within 24 hours. Reports concerning child safety are the highest priority and are handled ahead of everything else.
- We remove the content and suspend the account while we review.
- Confirmed CSAE results in permanent termination of the account.
- We preserve the evidence that the law requires us to preserve.
- We report to the competent authorities, and to organisations such as NCMEC, where the law requires it.
- We block the person from creating a new account.
Legal compliance
We comply with the child safety laws that apply to us, and with Google Play's and Apple's child safety requirements. We keep these standards under review and update them when the law or the product changes. How we handle personal data, including data connected to a report, is described in our Privacy Policy.
